Find Where I Am Right Now: Kids Edition

Getting lost in a crowd in a place that you’re barely familiar with can be quite a scary and heart-pounding experience. Not knowing where you are or where to go can often be a traumatic memory that stays with us forever. Even the most experienced adult feels a bit of trepidation at the notion of displacement. The feeling is intensified as a minor. For adults, all they have to do is search on their phone Where Am I Right Now and they will get the exact location of their whereabouts. This is not the same for children who are also dealing with the panic and anxiety of being surrounded by hundreds or thousands of strangers.

Children acting scared and throwing tantrums could also prove to be a dangerous feat as it can alert evildoers that there is an unsupervised kid at point-blank range. This is why it is necessary to teach your kids what to do when they get lost. It may seem like a dark lesson but it is still better to be prepared than to suffer hours upon hours of panic-induced anxiety.

Here are some tips to teach your kid what to do should they get separated from you.

Have Your Kid Memorize Your Details

This is pretty much the first rule of parenting. Before leaving the house with your kid, especially once they start walking, you should ensure that they have memorized some of the most important details to get them identified. Your child should know your full name, their full name, your phone number, and your address. If they still cannot speak or is unable to memorize these important information, write it down and let them wear it as a bracelet. Remind them to show it to a trustworthy adult like a guard or a store employee. Putting it inside their pocket may also work. Make sure that they are aware of this special note and what to do with it should you get separated.

Give Your Kid An Emergency Phone

Giving a kid an emergency phone is probably one of the best ways to ensure that you find them quickly after they get separated from you. If your child is old enough to know how to operate the basics of a phone then this is definitely a sure way of contacting them. Just a few tips, make sure that they always have it on them and that they know how to contact you. Also, get them a phone that has the basic call and messaging function and not much else. A flashy smartphone on the hands of an innocent, vulnerable child without adult supervision can easily get stolen and even put your kid in danger. Put your number on speed dial or have a note with your number written inside their pockets so they know which number to call.

Teach Your Kids To Ask For Help Properly

The lesson Never Talk To Strangers is an appropriate message to teach kids. Unfortunately, this could cause your kids to be deathly afraid of strangers. Instead of asking for help which could quicken the process of you finding them, they run away and make the situation worse.

Teach your kids to know who to go to for help. Security guards, uniformed personnel, store employees, and mothers with their own children are just some of the best people they can ask for help. Tell them to provide their details immediate so as to contact you right away.

Don’t Let Them Wander Off

Should you get separated, the most common mistake that children do is that they wander off making the entire situation worse both for you and for them. Ingrain in your kids that should a scenario happen where they get lost and they can’t find you, they should stay on that spot. Have them find a spot where they can sit and just relax. If in a half an hour, you still haven’t appeared, then they should find help.

Choose A Meeting Place

When going to a crowded place where there is a high chance of getting separated with your kids, make sure that you assign a contingency meeting place. This is to ensure that you have a destination where you can go should an unfortunate event happen. Make sure that the meeting place is easy to navigate towards and is a safe place for a kid. A familiar, well-lit diner with friendly staff is definitely one of the best places to meet at after getting separated.

Keep A Cool Head

The first thing that your kid must learn after getting separated from you is to keep a cool head. Getting frazzled will not do any positive results. In fact, panicking will definitely just add to your frustrations and make the situation so much worse. Teaching your children to stay collected in the face of distress will definitely pay off in the long run. In fact, this can be an important life lesson that might stay with them forever.

How‌ ‌To‌ ‌Find‌ ‌Your‌ ‌Exact‌ ‌Location‌

Travelling is definitely one of the things you can do in your free time. If you have got the proper amount of resources, you can live a good life just by travelling 24/7. When travelling, you get to see breathtaking sights, experience different cultures, taste different cuisines, meet new people, and overall have an exciting adventure. Unfortunately, one common scenario that happens during travelling is that you get lost. If you have a phone and a working mobile data, then all you have to search for is whereamirightnow.com and you’ll find the correct location of your whereabouts.

Getting lost is part of the experience of travelling. It allows you to amble the roads without any set destination thereby providing you with an avenue to explore and experience a culture that is far from what you are used to. Today, it may seem like getting lost would be such a trivial thing especially with smartphones having a GPS function.

However, there are still times when technology fails us and we are left to fend for our own. Maybe you left your phone behind, or the battery is empty, or worse, you’re lost and can’t find a Wi-Fi or cell signal. It is best that you know how to find exactly where you are.

Being lost in a completely different country, while recommended and has a lot of positive results, can also be a dangerous one. No matter how safe you think you are, the chances of crime, especially on a wide-eyed tourist is definitely high. This is why we have listed below some of the things for you to do should you get lost and not have your old reliable smartphone with you.

Find A Charging Spot

This is for when your phone just runs out of battery. Find the nearest coffee shop or 7-11 where you can pump some juice back into your phone. From there, you can easily just search for whereamirightnow.com and you’ll be provided with your exact location in less than a minute. It is recommended that travellers carry with them a battery pack so they never run out of battery. When travelling, it cannot be helped that you take many pictures which could easily drain your mobile.

STOP

When you realize that you’ve been lost for quite some time, it can be panic-inducing which could lead you to amble aimlessly. This should not be your go-to move especially if you are in the wilderness with no discernable trail or sign of civilization.

Stop and gather your wits first. When you wander around, you make it harder for a search party to find you. If it is safe, stay where you are or at the last spot which you think you were on the right track. This increases the chances of other hikers passing by you.

Don’t Panic. Panicking will do you no good. Wasting your energy would be counterproductive. Look around what is around you and see if you can find shelter and water. Make a mental list of your supplies and prepare for the worst. Plan how to find or make shelter, how you will build a fire, where you’ll get your food and water, and how you can attract attention so you can be found.

Ask Around

If you are lost in the city, of course, the best way to find out where you are is to ask around. When asking around, be polite and try to smile. This will allow the locals to warm up to you instead of being cold, rude, and demanding. If you do not speak the same language, find someone who can speak the same language as you.

Talking to police officers or traffic aides will definitely make your life easier as they are required to know how to navigate around the area. Talking to the locals will also allow you to be more familiar with the local language and culture which is one of the best benefits of travelling.

Buy A Map and Look for Street Signs

Convinced that you can do it on your own? Buying a map and doing it old-style is always an option. For countries that expect hundreds of millions of tourists each year, it has become customary for many shops to sell maps. Once you’ve bought a map, look for street signs at the corner of each street and determine exactly where you are. The map will also help you navigate through the streets and to where you want to go.

Look For A Landmark

In the extreme case that you can’t find your location with a map, look for familiar landmarks. It is common for people to have a misguided sense of direction, especially in an unfamiliar place. Finding a familiar place and then retracing your steps back to your hotel is probably one of the best ways to navigate your way in a foreign country.

Now We Go More Secure with HTTPS

Geolocation is a sensitive information. Yet, it also powerfull features when come to web. So it make sense if those Web Browser developer think that there need something to do with this powerful. Something which may protect your privacy, your identity, or such other thing.

Thats why, based on a page from Chromium Developer pages in here, they decided that in the future, geolocation may only be accessed from secure origins. Which means HTTPS.

Although those issues aren’t forced yet, but we realize the urgency and the importance.

So thats why, from today onward, our website will be accessible through https. Instead. Please comment here if you found any error.
